Day 2: 31 Day Challenge – Closet Cleaning + Revamp Selection

Sunday, January 2nd, 2011

I have decided to stop wearing things that don’t look great on me.  I have some clothes that I think are cool so I wear them in spite of how bad they look on me.  I think it’s because I own them and I don’t want to just give them away.  I bought them so I wear them anyway.  Well, no more.  I am making a pile of clothing that I still love, that I don’t want to get rid of but that aren’t totally fabulous on me.

Time to clean out my closet, which is more or less the underbelly of my house, well that and the laundry room.  These are places in my house that are messy, over crowded and hard to find what I’m looking for.  I was recently realizing that I think I used to be more creative in my personal style and that part of the reason that I am not more creative these days is that I have too many clothes.  Too much distracting me from what I look great in.  I will be making a huge pile of clothes and taking them upstairs to my sewing room to revamp and start Operation Fabulous!

Sometimes you get to spend your time creating, other times you must spend some time reflecting and organizing so that you can make the time and mental space to create.  Today is one of those days – making room for creativity.

January 2nd, 2011: Closet cleaning and selecting items for revamping

I’m so excited to start cutting and sewing these babies.  So many ideas!  I’ll show you in future posts what I’ll be doing with these treasured items.

In case you didn’t read my first blog post about this project . . . this post is part of a 31 day challenge I am doing to bring more creativity, stories and solutions to my life.  I have been using my creativity almost exclusively for work in the recent past and for the month of January I will creating things for my personal life, talking about them and taking pictures.  I would love input from readers as to which project you enjoy the most and if I get enough comments on one particular project I’ll turn it into a tutorial after the 31 day challenge of crafting, stories and solutions is over.  So please let me know what you like!
